Product description

A really beautiful Shark tooth from a prehistoric mackerel shark, Otodus obliquus, dating from the Paleocene and Eocene Periods, 60m to 45m years old. It was discovered in Morocco, North Africa.
It was a large predatory shark growing to around 40 feet in length, with rows of sharp teeth growing up to 4 inches in length.
As most of the skeleton was composed of catilage, it is known mainly from its teeth and fossilised vertebrae.
It probably preyed upon boney fish, and other sharks. It was a top predator of its time.
